The Magic Of Thinking Big – David Schwartz

The Magic Of Thinking Big – David Schwartz

This is one of the few books I have read twice, other than Fantastic Mr. Fox and the BFG.

You must absolutely believe in success! Think doubt and fail. Think success and win. Think about big goals and you will achieve them. Remind yourself about this regularly – write it on the front door!

Excusitus – get rid of this immediately the longer that you use excuses like I don’t have time or this takes too long the worse it gets. Don’t: talk/think about it. Be grateful for the health that I have.

E.g.Don’t talk about ill health to anyone at work out friends, as it can just manifest.

Evaluate performance at the end of every month! How far have you come, what did you acheive, what can you improve.

Don’t underestimate your own intelligence or overestimate others intelligence. Remember that attitude and what you do are more important.

Confidence and fear
Action cures fear, postponement and indecision feed it.
Isolate the fear ; what is causing it. Then decide on how to conquer it.
Build up a positive thinking pattern. Each night journal for 5 mins asking yourself: 3 wins today, how do you feel right now, victories and things you achieved today. Review this list on Sundays.

Don’t draw negative memories up; no comparisons as well (sic).

To think confidently you need to act confidently.
Practice what your conscience tells you is right.

When someone asks how you are, never respond with ‘I’m tired’ or complain. Simply respond with’so good’ or awesome/ wonderful etc.

When describing others, always be positive!

Use positive language to encourage others. Including compliments

What can be!
When describing something that has yet to happen, go into detail about what can be NOT on what it currently is. People pay more for an acre and an idea, than just an acre.

Put a big value on your students, no matter what their ability is. Help them to dream big.

Finally, add value to yourself by asking “What can I do to make myself more valuable today?”

Thinking Big

When you are about to begin a difficult project, one that seems really hard to complete just ask yourself to think about the steps needed to accomplish it, no matter what. Then you will be able to achieve it.

So something different every day. Be it taking a be route to work, or trying a new teaching strategy.

Creative thinking is getting the same things done but in different ways

Join social groups of different people to enrich your point of view.

You must review your ideas on a regular basis. Any ideas that stick should be followed up and invested in. To start, try drawing the idea on paper as this will give it life! Like in a org chart infographic etc

In your journal ask how you can do better and what more can you do, after identifying 3 things that went well.

Listen more in conversation.

You are what you think you are.

Think positive. Think successful. Thank that you deserve respect and you will receive it.

When you are in front of people you lead ALWAYS be positive any the job as they will pick up on this behavior.

You should socialize with new people often and who are outside your interest group. Also choose friends who are into positive things.

Staying with positivity, never gossip about anyone. Only talk about them in a positive fashion.

Broadcast good news, constantly.

Make people feel important through acknowledging them, compliments etc. Let them know that you depend on them.

Every day, go out of your way to make your wife and family happy.

If you want a raise at work, don’t ask for it, instead just do the work and you will be rewarded. Always give people more than that expect.

Introduce yourself to new people at every opportunity. Don’t be a know it all.

Become a person of action – an activationist! You need to take action on your ideas. Action cures fear!

After failure, review what went wrong and correct it. Stay with your goals no matter what happens.

Goals!
You must have goals in life, else you may find that you wander around aimlessly. To be truly successful, you must do what you want to do, scratch your own itch. Once you have surrendered to your goal, your subconscious will take over and lead you, inevitably, towards it. Break down the big goals into small, achievable tasks over 30 days. Review at the end of every month and then create a new set of goals. Ask yourself, will this help me get to where I want to be in 10 years? If yes, then proceed. If not then say no.

Two of the best investments you will ever make are 1. Invest in education – do this because it cultivates creativity, how to think. It builds the mind for the future.

Who do you want to be in 10 years ?
