Data
I started to become obsessed with data during the masters course. My obsession started with qualitative data and I was concerned with where it came from, which at the time was mostly from academic articles. When I was writing my dissertation on collaboration at international schools I learned about thematic analysis and how much of a pain in the ass it is! Although, weirdly I enjoyed it because I was able to back up my wild opinions with actual evidence.
I then started to think about how data is used by other teachers and admin. To be honest, I don’t, or anyone I have met in education, have a really deep understanding of data, and how to analyze it. So, the insatiable yet never-to-execute entrepreneurial spirit that I possess, prompted me to plunge eyes first into a YouTube rabbit hole on data analysis. A few influencers lead me down the path of the Google Analytics certificate found on Coursera back in October 2023 – more of my thoughts on that here.
As I made my way through the course, I captured what I learned in the one-pagers for each of the Google Analytics life cycle below.
