Google Semantris

Google Semantris is a word association game that uses Google’s semantic search technology. It can be a fun and engaging way to help students develop their vocabulary and critical thinking skills. Here are some ways you can use Semantris in the classroom:

  • Vocabulary building: Semantris can help students expand their vocabulary by presenting them with words they may not be familiar with. As they play the game, they will see how different words are related to each other and learn new words in context.
  • Critical thinking: Semantris requires players to think critically and make connections between words. Students will need to use their analytical skills to figure out the relationships between words and how they can be grouped together.
  • Team building: Semantris can be played in teams, which can encourage collaboration and communication among students. They will need to work together to come up with the right associations and score points.
  • Brain break: Semantris can be a fun and engaging way to take a break from more traditional classroom activities. It can help students refocus and re-energize before returning to their work.

Overall, Semantris can be a useful tool in the classroom for building vocabulary, critical thinking, team-work, and providing a fun and interactive learning experience.

Investment In Yourself

Don’t wait for your employer to invest in you, invest in yourself.

Register for a grad program (if you can afford it), or a free course from Harvard on how to code in Scratch.

Buy a subscription on Skillshare.

Whatever it is you want to invest in, do it yourself, and do it now.

AI Image Generators

Comparing Which face is real? to This Person Does Not Exist is a fair comparison, as they are both websites that use AI to generate images of people. However, the two websites have different approaches and purposes.

Which face is real? is more of a game that challenges users to determine if an image is a real photograph or an AI-generated face. The website uses a smaller dataset of images, so it may not be as sophisticated or varied as This Person Does Not Exist. On the other hand, This Person Does Not Exist is focused on generating unique and diverse images of people that don’t exist, and the technology used is more advanced, resulting in more realistic-looking images. However, they both use the StyleGan system; dataset can be found here.

In the end, the comparison between the two websites comes down to personal preference and what you’re looking for. If you want to test your ability to distinguish between real and AI-generated images, Which face is real? may be more your style. If you’re interested in generating realistic images of non-existent people, then This Person Does Not Exist is the way to go.

Here are some fun activities that K-12 students can do with these websites:

Which face is real? – This website can be used as an engaging warm-up activity or an extension of a lesson on facial recognition technology. Students can work in pairs or small groups and take turns trying to guess whether an image is real or generated by AI. To add an element of competition, you could time the students and see who can get the most correct answers in a set amount of time.

This Person Does Not Exist – This website can be used as a creative writing prompt or a visual storytelling activity. Have students choose a face from the website and create a backstory for that person. What is their name? Where do they come from? What are their likes and dislikes? Encourage students to be as creative as possible and think outside the box. For older students, you could also have them write a short story or a script using the image as a starting point.

These activities can be adapted to different age groups and subject areas. They’re a great way to get students thinking creatively and critically about technology and society.

The Magic Of Thinking Big – David Schwartz

The Magic Of Thinking Big – David Schwartz

This is one of the few books I have read twice, other than Fantastic Mr. Fox and the BFG.

You must absolutely believe in success! Think doubt and fail. Think success and win. Think about big goals and you will achieve them. Remind yourself about this regularly – write it on the front door!

Excusitus – get rid of this immediately the longer that you use excuses like I don’t have time or this takes too long the worse it gets. Don’t: talk/think about it. Be grateful for the health that I have.

E.g.Don’t talk about ill health to anyone at work out friends, as it can just manifest.

Evaluate performance at the end of every month! How far have you come, what did you acheive, what can you improve.

Don’t underestimate your own intelligence or overestimate others intelligence. Remember that attitude and what you do are more important.

Confidence and fear
Action cures fear, postponement and indecision feed it.
Isolate the fear ; what is causing it. Then decide on how to conquer it.
Build up a positive thinking pattern. Each night journal for 5 mins asking yourself: 3 wins today, how do you feel right now, victories and things you achieved today. Review this list on Sundays.

Don’t draw negative memories up; no comparisons as well (sic).

To think confidently you need to act confidently.
Practice what your conscience tells you is right.

When someone asks how you are, never respond with ‘I’m tired’ or complain. Simply respond with’so good’ or awesome/ wonderful etc.

When describing others, always be positive!

Use positive language to encourage others. Including compliments

What can be!
When describing something that has yet to happen, go into detail about what can be NOT on what it currently is. People pay more for an acre and an idea, than just an acre.

Put a big value on your students, no matter what their ability is. Help them to dream big.

Finally, add value to yourself by asking “What can I do to make myself more valuable today?”

Thinking Big

When you are about to begin a difficult project, one that seems really hard to complete just ask yourself to think about the steps needed to accomplish it, no matter what. Then you will be able to achieve it.

So something different every day. Be it taking a be route to work, or trying a new teaching strategy.

Creative thinking is getting the same things done but in different ways

Join social groups of different people to enrich your point of view.

You must review your ideas on a regular basis. Any ideas that stick should be followed up and invested in. To start, try drawing the idea on paper as this will give it life! Like in a org chart infographic etc

In your journal ask how you can do better and what more can you do, after identifying 3 things that went well.

Listen more in conversation.

You are what you think you are.

Think positive. Think successful. Thank that you deserve respect and you will receive it.

When you are in front of people you lead ALWAYS be positive any the job as they will pick up on this behavior.

You should socialize with new people often and who are outside your interest group. Also choose friends who are into positive things.

Staying with positivity, never gossip about anyone. Only talk about them in a positive fashion.

Broadcast good news, constantly.

Make people feel important through acknowledging them, compliments etc. Let them know that you depend on them.

Every day, go out of your way to make your wife and family happy.

If you want a raise at work, don’t ask for it, instead just do the work and you will be rewarded. Always give people more than that expect.

Introduce yourself to new people at every opportunity. Don’t be a know it all.

Become a person of action – an activationist! You need to take action on your ideas. Action cures fear!

After failure, review what went wrong and correct it. Stay with your goals no matter what happens.

Goals!
You must have goals in life, else you may find that you wander around aimlessly. To be truly successful, you must do what you want to do, scratch your own itch. Once you have surrendered to your goal, your subconscious will take over and lead you, inevitably, towards it. Break down the big goals into small, achievable tasks over 30 days. Review at the end of every month and then create a new set of goals. Ask yourself, will this help me get to where I want to be in 10 years? If yes, then proceed. If not then say no.

Two of the best investments you will ever make are 1. Invest in education – do this because it cultivates creativity, how to think. It builds the mind for the future.

Who do you want to be in 10 years ?

No Rules Rules – Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer

Treat people like adults who can handle difficult information. In other words be honest.

Whisper wins and yell mistakes. But you must be viewed as being strong to begin with.

Innovation
Have dedicated time to innovate, but you can only do this if you have an a time who you can trust to accomplish.

Socialize
When you have a new innovative idea try socializing it with your friends for example is talking in the staff room signing out with your family as well and then judge the reception from that step two would be like put it I try it out also would you get feedback on it through a shared spreadsheet and you know mention the temperature but collect data.
